¡¡Hola de nuevo!! Mucho trabajo y proyectos después... una entrada rápida para demostrar que no me he olvidado de esto. Tengo preparado algo mejor, pero mientras llegue... me enamoré de la calidez de éste editorial, como estoy enamorada de las bodas en la playa. Recién casados.

Hello again!! After a lot of work and projects... a quick post just to show that I haven't forgotten this. I have something better coming, but while you wait... I fell in love with the warmth of this editorial, as I'm in love with beach weddings. Just married.

Trend Alert! Kitten Heels

Quién nos lo iba a decir, a nosotras, que pensábamos que el mayor estatus del estilo era llevar unos tacones imposibles (si sabes andar con ellos claro está), de esos que te hacen unas piernas kilométricas, de esos que te hacen combatir contigo misma entre ir guapa y cómoda, que volverían los tacones bajos, los que tiene tu madre y te gustaría que dejara de tener, pero también (ironía), los que llevaba Audrey, y a ella si se lo vemos diferente eh?

Pues bien, el que Louboutin creara para Carla Bruni unos zapatos de menos de 10 cm de tacón fue el principio del fin. Y es que la pobre primera dama no podía andar por ahí siendo una cabeza más alta que el presi de la France. ¿Dónde vamos a parar? Pasa lo mismo con Michelle Obama.

Who would think that low heels would be back from the deepest part of our mother's closet, those heels that we hate but we won't anymore, those heels that our beloved Audrey (irony) made famous. Us, the people that thought that the ultimate style laid on impossible heels (if you know how to walk on them), those that make your legs look kilometrical, those that impose an interior fight between being beautiful or comfortable. People, low heels are back to stay!

The begining of the end was Louboutin creating pumps of less than 10 cm for Carla Bruni. Because the poor first lady couldn't be taller than the president of la France. The same issue for Michelle Obama.

Por ahí se empieza, pero luego llega Valentino con sus salones de tachuelas que enamoraron, Louis Vuitton con sus zapatitos de niña buena, las declaraciones de Nicholas Kirkwood ("un tacón bajo puede ser cool, y puede ser jóven también) y así hasta la firma Charlotte Olympia, que parecía no ser nada sin sus exageradas plataformas, y ahora crea un stiletto de 5 cm... ¿qué está pasando?

That was the beginning, after that Valentino came with their lovely studded pumps, Louis Vuitton with the naivety, words by Nicholas Kirkwood ("A low heel can be cool, and young too") and then on until Charlotte Olympia, who seemed to be nothing without their exaggerated platforms, creates a 5 cm stiletto... What is going on?

Pues pasa que la comodidad y la sensatez ganan terreno a todo lo demás, y pasa también que después de los zapatos armadillo de Alexander McQueen ¿quién podía dar más? 

Este año, la pasarela y la calle se rinden al zapato bajo, porque el estilo no es directamente proporcional a la altura del tacón.

 Well, the thing is that comfort and sanity are becoming more important issues, and it's also going on that after Alexander McQueen's armadillo heels, who could do more?

Hace tiempo que descubrí este vídeo tutorial. Lo cierto es que nunca lo he probado, pero creo que va siendo hora, ¿no creéis? El maquillaje es como la ropa interior, cuando menos se note, mejor (alejarse de Guess by Marciano... siempre!)... excepto si eres Lady Gaga, a ella se lo perdono todo.

I found this tutorial a long time ago. Truth is I've never tried to do my make up like this, but I do think that I should, don't you? Make up is like underwear, the less it's obvious the best (keep away from Guess by Marciano... always!), except if you are Lady Gaga, I forgive her everything!

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS: Mario Testino

Tres décadas de trabajo después, no una, sino dos nuevas exposiciones sobre las instantáneas del fotógrafo en el Boston's Museum of Fine Arts sitúan al artista peruano en el punto de mira. Todo amante de la moda y la fotografía tiene una cita con los 125 favoritos de Mario Testino. Un icono, sin duda. Como una vez dijo Jennifer Lopez: "Testino me".

After three decades of work, not only one but two new exhibitions about the shoots of the photographer are shown in the Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. Every fashion or photography lover has a very indispensable appointment with Testino's 125 favourites. An icon, hands down. As once said Jennifer Lopez: "Testino me".

Él afirma que no es el fotógrafo sino el fotografiado el creador del resultado final, pero esto lo dudamos mucho. Su encanto es el que consigue sacar lo mejor de cada personaje. 

El momento clave de su carrera fue el photo shoot protagonizado por la princesa Diana, unas fotografías llenas de luz y del carisma de Lady Di que aún hoy me siguen quitando el aliento. Testino dice que Diana es una de las mujeres que más le han marcado, su arrolladora personalidad quedó plasmada poco antes de morir en una de las sesiones más bellas que existen.

He claims that it's not the photographer but the photographed who creates the final result, but we really doubt it. His charm gets to end showing the best of every people he shoots.

The key moment in his career was the photo shoot starring princess Diana, with pictures full of light and Lady Di's charisma that even nowadays take my breath away. Testino says that Diana is one of the women that have really touched him, her outstanding personality remains in this session, one of the most beautiful of all time shoot close to her tragic death.

Una de sus influencias más importantes es Helmut Newton, un fotógrafo con "un punto de vista muy personal" afirma Testino. Alguien con algo más que dar que simples instantáneas. De él hereda el interés por el sexo y los desnudos. Él mismo dice que adora desnudar a las personas, porque es entonces cuando se descubre su verdadero "yo", aunque esto no interese en las revistas, donde evidentemente el objetivo es enseñar la ropa.

"Muchas veces encuentro que existe demasiado plástico en el mundo: nos levantamos, miramos al espejo y tapamos todos los agujeros. En la industria de la moda lo escondemos todo. Cuando miras la espalda de un vestido en una foto está siempre pinzado. Por eso  me gusta el desnudo, porque estoy obsesionado con la verdad".

De hoy en día dice que existen demasiados fotógrafos, demasiadas revistas, demasiada demanda o una gran falta de ideas, de individualidad o de tiempo para desarrollarla. Tal vez por eso él es especial, porque sigue creciendo, aprendiendo e investigando.

A partir de aquí, lo que ya sabemos, innumerables portadas y editoriales de Vanity Fair, GQ, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar... Y una leyenda, la de uno de los mejores fotógrafos de moda que han existido. 

One of his most important influences is Helmut Newton, a photographer with a "very personal point of view" claims Testino. Someone with something more to give than just photos. From Newton inherits a huge interest in sex and nudes. He loves undressing people, because it's then when he gets to see their real self, even if that does not have any interest for magazines, where the aim it's to show clothes.

"A lot of the time I find there's a lot of plastic in the world: we get up, look in the mirror and cover up all the holes. In the fashion business we disguise everything. If you look at the back of a dress in a fashion picture it is always pinned. Which is why I like nudity, as I'm obsessed with the truth".

From nowadays he says that there are too many photographers, too many magazines, too much demand or a huge lack of ideas, individuality or time to develop it. Maybe he's special because of that , becausse he keeps growing up, learning and researching.

From then on, what we already know, countless covers and editorials in Vanity Fair, GQ, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar... And a legend, of one of the best fashion photographers ever.

Vika Gazinskaya dice haberse inspirado en sus viajes, en las imágenes que ve desde el avión cuando va de semana de la moda en semana de la moda con la tropa de Miroslava Duma.

Rusia viene con su imaginario infantil (que no imaginaba que existiera, siempre pensé en un universo mucho más conceptual, lleno de referencias espaciales, líneas y planos superpuestos al más puro estilo El Lissitzky) a hacernos soñar con el mundo de Heidi… ¿estoy fumada?

Pero no todo es ingenuidad e influencias infantiles en esta colección, de hecho, es mucho más, siluetas minimalistas esculpidas en ocasiones por volantes que rodean el cuerpo, orejas de conejo que surgen de las solapas… Existe algo del espíritu del surrealismo de Schiaparelli en esta colección, pero también del conocimiento exhaustivo de la costura de Balenciaga. Y es este tándem entre espíritu naif y elegancia la que hacen de ésta una exquisita colección.

Vika Gazinskaya claims that she’s been inspired by her trips, by the images that she’s seen from the airplane window when moving from fashion week to fashion week with Miroslava Duma’s crew.

Russia comes with her childhood regard (that actually I didn’t know existed, I always thought in a very conceptual universe, full of spatial references, lines and overlapping planes as it’s typical to see in El Lissitzky drawings) to make us dream about the Heidi world… am I crazy?

But not everything is naivety and childish influences in this collection, in fact, it’s much more than that, minimal sculpted silhouettes, sometimes with ruffles that surround the body, rabbit ears arising from the flaps… There’s something from Schiaparelli’s surreal spirit in this collection, but also from Balenciaga’s exhaustive couture knowledge. And both naivety and elegance make this an exquisite collection.
